National Conference on Incontinence

25 November 2011

Marg and Marita have just recently returned from Melbourne where they attended the 20th National Conference on Incontinence. It was a very informative program focusing on the best practice and research in continence management.
Professor Kari Bo, a highly recognized international researcher in the area of pelvic floor dysfunction and pelvic floor muscle training presented the evidence for PFM training during pregnancy and childbirth. A 2008 Cochrane review concluded that women were 56% less likely to report stress urinary incontinence in late pregnancy and about 30% up to 6 months post partum if they have done an intensive antenatal pelvic floor muscle trainng program.
